Selected papers presented at the conference have now been published in a special issue of Studies in Nonlinear Dynamics and Econometrics in honor of Herman.

Herman himself also contributed with an essay entitled 'Challenges and Opportunities for Twenty First Century Bayesian Econometricians: A Personal View.' In this essay he makes the connection with the Monte Carlo method in the Manhattan project, which he worked on together with Emeritus professor Teun Kloek in the period of 1974-1982.

Herman is currently Consultant at the Research Section of the Norwegian Central Bank (Norges Bank) and professor emeritus at the Econometric Institute, Erasmus University Rotterdam. He was director of the Tinbergen Institute, Director of the Econometric Institute, and professor of Econometrics with a Personal Chair at Erasmus University Rotterdam.

He has been a visiting Fellow and a visiting professor at University of Cambridge, Catholic University of Louvain, Harvard University, Duke University, Cornell University, European University in Florence, University of New South Wales, and Vrije Universiteiteit Amsterdam. He is Fellow of the Journal of Econometrics, the International Society of Bayesian Analysis, the International Association of Applied Econometrics, elected Member of the International Statistical Institute, Senior Fellow at the Rimini Center for Economic Analysis, Distinguished Author of the Journal of Applied Econometrics, and Knight in the Order of Lion of the Netherlands.
