TI fellow Cars Hommes was elected President of the Society for Computational Economics (SCE). His term will run from 2014 to 2016. The Society was founded in 1995 and is based in the United States. SCE promotes computational methods in economics and finance including the usage of computers for enhancement of research in economics. The discipline of computational economics explores the intersection of economics and computation.

Cars Hommes is professor of economic dynamics at the University of Amsterdam, director of the Center for Nonlinear Dynamics in Economics and Finance (CenDEF) and leader of the TI Cooperative Behavior, Strategic Interaction and Complex Systems (CSC) research group.
