TI would like to welcome Frank van Oort who will be joining us as a research fellow. Frank van Oort is professor of Urban and Regional Economics at the Erasmus School of Economics (EUR).
Frank van Oort studied Spatial and Business Economics at the Erasmus University Rotterdam. In 2002 he defended his dissertation “Agglomeration, Economic Growth and Innovation. Spatial Analyses of Knowledge Externalities in the Netherlands” (cum laude). Already during his PhD study, in 1999, he became a researcher and policy advisor of the Spatial Planning Agency RPB, The Hague.
From 2002 to 2010 he was a senior coordinating researcher and sector director of the RPB and the Netherlands Environmental Assessment Agency (PBL). From 2005, for 10 years, Frank worked as a professor of Urban Economics at Utrecht University, the Netherlands. This year the Erasmus School of Economics appointed him as professor of Urban and Regional Economics. In this capacity, he also acts as the academic director of the Institute of Housing and Urban Development Studies (IHS) of Erasmus University Rotterdam.
Frank will join the STEE TI research group.
