TI Mphil student Robert Verschuren has won the 2017 H.K. Nieuwenhuis Thesis Award of the Faculty of Economics and Business at the University of Amsterdam for his master thesis entitled Stochastic Term Structure Modeling: An empirical performance analysis of the Lévy Forward Price Model. His thesis supervisor was TI fellow Cees Diks. In addition to the award, Verschuren also received a cheque for € 2,250.
According to the jury report the winning thesis received the highest scores for relevance of research results and for the innovative nature of the research question. The members of the jury were Marc Salomon, Esther Eijling, Jonne Guyt, Michel Vellekoop and Peter Boswijk.
The H.K. Nieuwenhuis thesis award is named after Herman Karel Nieuwenhuis who was the first cum laude graduate in Economics at the University of Amsterdam in 1929. This thesis award aims to stimulate academic study in the field of economics and business.
