Eight good reasons to come to Tinbergen Institute
4. One-on-one advice in a small-scale program
Only 45 students are admitted annually to the economics and finance track of TI’s MPhil program.
The small scale of the program allows students to regularly call upon the institute’s staff, professors and student body for
individual advice on both practical matters and research.
In addition, TI schedules regular meetings
between individual students and the Director of Graduate Studies to discuss progress in the
program.

[Reason 5: Excellent international travel opportunities]

The MPhil program is very useful in revealing information on potential supervisors to students (and vice versa). Teaching at TI is both great fun and challenging, because the students are excellent and force you to be on top of the topics that you teach.
My feeling is that the relation between students and professors at Tinbergen Institute is quite informal. Good students are treated more as co-authors than as students.
