Introduction in Genome-Wide Data Analysis
Despite the Covid-19 outbreak we still expect that the TI summer school courses can take place. In the unfortunate event that we are not able to offer courses due to tightened national regulations, you will receive a full refund of your payment to Tinbergen Institute. If this is the case, we will inform all applicants accordingly via email asap.
July 6-10, 2020 in Amsterdam, Zuidas
This interdisciplinary summer course bridges knowledge gaps that participants from different backgrounds may have. Specifically, social scientists will get a short, formal introduction to genetics, while students from medicine and genetics will benefit from the formal treatment of statistical methods as well as the discussion of how investigating the genetics of social-scientific outcomes may lead to medically relevant insights.
The summer course welcomes (research) master students, PhD students, post-docs, and professionals from various disciplines (e.g. behavioral genetics, economics, medicine, sociology, political sciences, and psychology) who are interested in learning state-of-the-art methods for genome-wide data analysis.
For information about the programme, please find this year’s syllabus here.
A formal background in statistics or econometrics is required from students (at the level of a first-year course, in a graduate school or PhD program, in economics, psychology, or epidemiology) but, no formal training in genetics will be assumed. The course is taught in English and will be accessible to students from both in- and outside the Netherlands.
