How to Apply to BDS

At present, accreditation for the research master in Business Data Science is pending. Until accreditation is awarded, all courses will be hosted by Tinbergen Institute in a separate track. Students will enroll in the Tinbergen Institute research master program.

Before starting the application procedure, please check the BDS admission requirements.

To apply, create an account in our online application system, fill out the application form, provide two names and email addresses of recommenders, upload your admission material and pay the application fee.


April 1, 2019 (all)
May 1, 2019 (EEA and Swiss nationals only)
After the April deadline applications will be processed on a rolling basis.

All applicants are advised to submit their application early, because slots in the program and funding opportunities are limited. In any case, non-EEA/non-Swiss nationals should apply before the April 1 deadline.
A note for students who already staying in the Netherlands and who wish to apply after the May 1 deadline: please consult the BDS Admissions Office.

Application fee

The application fee is $ 50 (non-refundable). Payment is by credit card only. Applicants from countries on the OECD DAC list pay a reduced application fee ($ 10, non-refundable). Applicants holding a Dutch degree are exempted from paying an application fee.

Tuition fee

The annual tuition fee for the academic year 2019-2020 is:

EEA national € 2,083
non-EEA national € 15,450
students holding a Dutch MSc degree € 15,450

In the PhD phase no tuition fees are charged. 

Scholarships and tuition waivers available

For talented students scholarships and tuition waivers are available. Please inform the Director of Graduate Studies if you want to be considered for funding by BDS. If you need assistance in securing external funding: contact the admissions officer. 

Please note

Start your online application early to give your recommenders time to upload their letters before the admission deadline.
All documents, including recommendation letters, must be received by midnight (Central European Time) on the day of the deadline.
Incomplete files will not be considered.

Admission decisions

All complete files will be reviewed after the deadline. You can expect to hear from BDS within five weeks of the respective application deadline.
Admission is always conditional upon the BDS Admissions Office receiving original or certified versions of diplomas and test results.
