Tinbergen Institute fellows leading in ESB ranking

Research fellows Albert J. Menkveld (Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam) and Cars Hommes (University of Amsterdam) are ranked number 1 in the 2023 ESB ranking of the top economists at universities in the Netherlands. Albert Menkveld is again the number one in the traditional ranking based on publications. Cars Hommes is highest ranked after weighting publications for relevance related to the United Nation's Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which is since 2022 known as the Economenparade.

Tinbergen Institute fellows leading in ESB ranking

Cars and Albert are joined by 9 Tinbergen Institute research fellow who were also included in the top 20 of the Economenparade. Newcomer to the list Arturas Juodis was ranked 3rd. Arturas is a Tinbergen Institute research master and PhD alumnus and currently a research fellow and Associate Professor at the University of Amsterdam

For the Economenparade, deans of schools were also asked about the particularly valuable achievements of employees.

PhD student Mareen Bastiaans, research fellows Robert Dur and Anne Gielen (Erasmus University Rotterdam) were mentioned for their research into the effects of activation of long-term welfare benefit recipients in RotterdamKlarita Gërxhani (Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam) was mentioned in relation to her experimental research on gender difference. Klarita will teach the course Gender in Society (July 8-12, 2024) as part of the 2024 Tinbergen Institute Summer School.
